Questions for which I seek answers

How long does a kid need to wear a onesie?

When do kids typically stop taking naps (please don't say two, please don't say two, please don't say two)?

How often do you get a date night? A night out with your friends?
When did you move your little one out of the crib and into a big kid bed?

Feel free to answer one or all of these.

1. I don't really get this question, which might be because we live in Florida. I would say you're probably good to skip a onesie on Peanut now unless it's cold and she needs the extra layer.

2. The Boy still is taking a nap, but it's a crapshoot whether we get 30 minutes or two hours. My sister's kids still take naps SOMETIMES at ages 3 and 4.

3. Date night? What's that?

4. The Boy moved into a big-bed in September, so he was about 20 months. It worked, but I don't think it would have hurt to wait a bit. We just needed the crib for The Lad.

I do onesies until they can walk. Crawling in a shirt that comes up and shows their belly is a pain in the ass.

My daughter took a nap until 4.5. She still could use one some days. My son is 3 and kind of gave them up when my daughter did. I still require quiet time and sometimes he'll snooze and other times not but it gives him the opportunity when he's banned to his room for 45 min. in the afternoon. I think it really depends on the kid. But TWO?! Oh, my. I'd have a real problem with that!

Date night? Hardly ever. We don't have a sitter who lives close by. If we did, we'd do it at least once a month.

We did a big kid bed at age 2 years, 2 months with both kids. Just happened to be that age, wasn't planned.

1) I still Ezra in a onesie because winters in the Midwest are cold, yo. I figure once it hit summertime and he decimates all of his 24 mos. onesies, we'll pull the plug on them.

2) At daycare they have quiet time/nap time until they're 4. I find this a lovely tradition and will keep it going as long as possible at home. Ezra typically sleeps about 2 1/2 to 3 hrs on the weekend.

3) We usually get a date night as a couple about once a month. Using my parents or my brother and his girlfriend as sitters.

4) I usually go out with my friends when my book club meets once a month. I usually try to see my other girlfriends individually for pedicures or playdates or quickie coffees a few times a month.

5) Ezra loves his crib. Asks to be put back in it for lounging. Has no interest in climbing out once it. We'll be keeping it a crib for as long as bloody possible.

What do YOU think?

Under clothes or as their shirt? We don't do the onesie's under clothes unless they're tiny in winter. As for onesies as their shirts, we typically never do onesies at all after 18m-2yrs. I prefer them for babies.

When do kids typically stop taking naps? My oldest just turned 5 and almost never naps (like - once a month) and hasn't for almost a year. My almost 3 year old is starting to skip naps some days. I have found that a lot of 3 yr olds start to skip naps and really phase them out a lot by 4. my kids have all gone through a stage @ 2 where they WANT to skip naps, but I just keep putting them in bed anyway. :)

How often do you get a date night? VERY rarely. We've had one in the last 6 months.

A night out with your friends? monthly, maybe even 2-3x a month.

When did you move your little one out of the crib and into a big kid bed?
son#1 - 15 mo. He hated the crib so much we thought it would help if we could lay down with him.
son#2 - right at 2 years. He was a climber though.
son#3 will be 2 in May and we have no intention of moving him anytime soon. He loves his crib and doesn't climb out.

Feel free to answer one or all of these.

Just stumbled across your blog and thought I'd play along.

1. We ditched the one piece outfits in general once the girls became interested in using the potty.

2. My girls turned two this month and naptime and bedtime are both a struggle. On the days when one of my girls doesn't take a nap we can definitely tell in the evening. So I think they still need it.

3. My parents take my kids overnight once a month so hubby and I can have some "adult" time.

4. My girls started climbing out of their cribs at 20 months. In the interest of their safety, we switched them to toddler beds. I say keep them in cribs as long as they are a safe option.

OK, since k asked me what I think, I'll tell you:
1. Peanut is still in onesies as an undershirt for the reason that k said. But now that it is getting warmer, we will probably ditch them.
2. Naps. I'm hoping she'll take naps until she's 18.
3. Date night ... maybe once a month. Maybe. Girls night out? Never. Time with the girls is usually reserved for playdates. Although I'm getting a night out tomorrow.
4. Big kid bed? I'm hoping to keep Peanut in her crib for as long as possible. Maybe until she's 18. Just kidding. She's really shown no interest in not being in it and much like Ezra, she has been known to enjoy some down time in it.

My son is nearly 26 months old, and we are going to keep him in onesies (for jammies and on the weekends) until he can't fit into them anymore. We don't take him out in a onesie anymore, though.

My son is still taking 2-3 hour naps. When I need a break, he has an extra long play session before his nap. :)

We get a date night once every 2-3 weeks. It mostly depends on when our patience is running out and that Grandpa doesn't mind watching him.

Oh yeah, we moved my son over to a toddler bed when he was about 14 months. We are lucky that he has a room that is baby-proofed. We listen for him on the monitor, too. He plays when he gets up and before he wants us to get him, which is nice. When he'd wake up in the middle of the night, he'd play for a bit, then go back to sleep without waking us up. We do have to listen for him falling out of bed, which has only happened about 3-4 times, but not a fun way to wake up.

1) We're still in onesies at 20 months but as soon as he outgrows the current 24 month size, we're done. As with K, we're in the frigid midwest and I need the extra layer for him until summer comes (which feels like it'll NEVER arrive).

2)I hope I get a good nap until 3 or 4. Right now we have a nice 2.5 hour nap going on every afternoon and losing that might just kill me.

3) Date night...maybe every other month if we're lucky. We have a bunch of weddings to attend this year so we can usually count that towards our "spending time as a couple instead of chasing after a willful toddler".

4) My moms' group does a monthly night out so I can always count on that and I try REALLY HARD to make time for my non-parent friends...that time always seems the first to go but they're there to remind me how to have fun as ME in stead of as MOM. Always necessary.

5) Noah also loves his crib so I will hang on to it as long as I can. My guess is he'll be ready to transfer within the next year.

1. Sophie still has a few 24mos onesies that she still wears and two 24mos longsleeve turtleneck onesies. I think those will be packed up soon. I love onesies!

2. Sophie still naps each day for anywhere from 1-3 hours. I hope she maintains this habit for life. :P

3. Date night? hmmmmm maybe once every 3 mos? Ugh. Night out with the girls or even a "day date" with the girls? Once in a blue moon. Part of it is b/c I live in the boonies and traveling around the DC/NoVA/MD area has to be planned in advance.

4. I hope to keep Sophie in her crib until the next kid comes around. If that is in 2 years, so be it;)
