Looking for stain fighting tips

In the list of things to be annoyed/get upset about in the world, this is No. 5,149, but it still annoys me.

I hate when Peanut's clothes get stained. Hate. It.

Which means I'm annoyed every time I do her laundry.

She's a kid. I get it. She gets food on her. She gets dirt on her. I'm not blaming her.

I try to get some form of stain remover on her clothes once I notice something. But if I changed her every time she got something on an outfit, I would need to change her clothes three times a day.

Plus some things just don't come out completely. Strawberry stains just seem to turn a faint purplish color. Oranges take at least a few washings.

I've stopped buying anything white and I'm always chasing after her trying to get the stain out before it sets in.

It's not like we buy expensive clothes that I really need to worry about. Most of her summer wardrobe consists of $3 shirts and shorts I picked up at Target. I told myself I wouldn't fret as much if the clothes were cheap. I was wrong.

What are your stain fighting tricks?

I love Tide Stain Release! It got out a mustard stain that had been previously washed and dried.

It gets out most things I have tried it on.

This is why I only buy the kiddos cheap clothing. I just don't have the energy to worry about this.

I have heard that the OxyClean Baby is really great - comes in spray or powder and is supposed to be fantastic.

We use just the regular oxy clean spray and I like it - it gets poop stains out.

Dawn dishwashing detergent is great for anything greasy.

oxy clean! soak for a few hours, then i sometimes scrub a stain, then wash. but usually a faint of the stain is still there...so i've given up the direct stain scrubbing part. but if you want to put in the effort, it has nearly always come through for me w/ my grubby girls. but yes, i find buying cheap clothing stops my worries.

Oh my goodness. While I'm just getting around to commenting now, I read this post on the EXACT night I'd just spent 20 minutes in the stain-fighting aisle of Target. I bought Spray n' Wash and it was complete crap.

I hate stains too and daycare?--well that puts E's clothes through the ringer.

Am going to write down what the other commenters mentioned because we need help.

Plain old Palmolive dish soap seems to get out just about anything - especially oil based stains. I rub it into the stain and soak in cold water for a while, then wash as normal. Deeper stains sometimes take a couple rounds of this, but it usually works.
