How about you?

Random question edition because everyone seems to enjoy it.

1. How often do you do laundry? Do you think it depends on where your laundry is? And do you baby detergent for the baby?
I try to do it once a week but it depends on how quickly the basket fills up. Our laundry is in the basement so I like to pretend that I would do it more often if it were upstairs. At least, that is what I tell myself.
For Peanut, I used baby detergent for about a year. This time, I don't think that will happen. I am ready to switch to a no dye, no scent detergent. Sorry, Gizmo. That's what happens when you are the second kid.

2. What is bed time at your house? What time do you get up?
We try to have the kiddos in bed by 9 p.m. We are people of the night. Wake up time is anywhere between 7 and 8 a.m. Before Gizmo, we slept in more. Sometimes Peanut wouldn't get up until 9 a.m. Recently, she has taken to crawling into bed with us by 7 a.m., sometimes earlier. She also takes a 2-3 hour nap most days.

3. How do you celebrate Valentine's Day?
We used to go to a nice restaurant every year and then we had kids. Now, the husband gets me flowers and chocolates. I usually get him candy and something else small. The girls got a variety of small things including matching pink Super Girl shirts.

1. I loathe laundry, but hate piles of it even more. I'll do a load whenever there is a pile large enough. I think I end up doing 6-8 loads a week. ??? And ixnay on the baby detergent. It's a pain to sort everything out for super special detergent.

2. Iris goes to bed at 6pm. Ezra at 7:30pm. Me at 9:30pm. T at 11pm. We then all get up at various times during the week, but on the weekends it's usually 7am. Ezra and Iris and I are not late-night folks. T is.

3. Valentine's Day is extra kisses and hugs and I Love You's and flowers and treats and cards. Oh, and I dress everyone in red. And I eat a shit ton of cinnamon hearts and make myself sick. Good times.

1. Ha ha laundry, no. Our housekeeper does it once a week. Strongly recommend a housekeeper who does laundry to everyone. So great. I never used baby detergent - I really like ALL free and clear - cheap and it works.
2. Anna's bed time is 7:30, ours is 10 to 10:30. I get up 6 or 6:30, Anna at 6:30 or 7:00 - it works. We are morning people.
3. Today I celebrated v-day by dressing Anna in a special outfit and buying treats for her teacher. Hubby and I may go to lunch. We'll have a special dinner at home and See's Candies - mmmm.

1 - we do laundry just about every other day. We end up washing about 10 - 12 loads a week so if we don't keep it up - it takes over!
We have a ranch, so no basement and no upstairs. There is a laundry basket in each bedroom.

2 - The kids go to bed around 7 every night. The boys usually wake up between 5:30 and 6, no matter when they go to bed. L often wakes up at 7 or later.

3 - We get the kids one of those tiny boxes of candy with 4 little chocolates in it. We get each other random, small stuff.

Oh, and only my first child got baby detergent. We use a free and clear, natural detergent now, for all of our clothes.

1. I wash 1 or 2 loads of laundry either every day or every other day. My boys' chores are to fold and stack the laundry. They don't mind it and I'm a much happier Mama! Yes, I used baby detergent for about a year with each baby because I really liked the smell! I washed their clothes separately because it was just easier. The babies typically got a small load washed each weekday.

2. The kids are supposed to start getting ready for bed at 8:30. Realistically they're not usually asleep til 9:00-9:30. Hubby crashes as soon as possible (he gets up at 5:00) and I stay up til 10:30 or 11. Son #1 and I get up at 7, the elementary kids get up at 7:45, and Baby Girl gets up as soon as she hears one of us walking around.

3. We have never made too big of a deal over Valentine's Day. We usually go out for a nice dinner the closest weekend day to the holiday but never on the holiday itself. I make a nice dinner on the actual day. I just posted a pic on my blog of the yummy chocolates I made Hubby this year.

We do it once a week and it ends up being 3 loads. 2 loads for us, 1 of Lea clothes, bibs, sheets, blankets and everything else she somehow managed to get messy.
2. What is bed time at your house? What time do you get up?
For about the first 9 months Lea went to bed around 6 p.m. Now it's more like 7:30 p.m. She is a lazy, crazy baby and has been known to sleep til 10 a.m. if I'd let her but we usually get up around 8 a.m. - and even that gets me a stink-eye when I wake her up.
3. How do you celebrate Valentine's Day?
We are going out to eat tonight while Grammy watches the baby. FI got me a new laptop bag, I got him a new video game he wanted and we got Lea a stuffed animal.

No to the baby laundry. We already used the no fragrance/no dye detergent and I had heard that baby detergent is expensive so that was that.

We do a shit ton of laundry. I can/will let Q's basket sit for at least 3 weeks and then do it all at once. This is only because this kid could wear a new outfit every day for probably 2 months.

Q goes to bed at 7, sometimes 7:30. Anything after that is a hot mess. Diapering and pjamming an overtired baby is akin to diapering and pjamming a wild beast.

Valentine's day is usually low key. We went out on Friday for cocktails and dinner and the Robot took the day off to surprise me which was nice. We do small gifts. I bought some books for the Samurai. Come to think of it, the only red she had on today was her hat. Whoops!

Oh and we never used baby detergent. I have terrible, terrible reactions to other detergent (even All Free and Clear) so we just stuck with Tide Free and Clear which is the only thing my body doesn't treat like an invading virus the second it touches my skin.

I do laundry weekly. When the basket is full, it takes over our bedroom. We are regular exercisers, so there's lots of stinky stuff, too. We use a dye- and perfume-free detergent for everyone. I never bought baby detergent because I think it's a marketing gimmick and overpriced because it's got a cute baby on it.

Evan goes to bed by 7:30. I am in bed by 10 p.m. and up at 5 a.m. Most days I get 30-45 minutes of quiet time in the morning before Evan wakes up. It is shocking when he ever sleeps past 6:15.

Valentine's Day this year was not acknowledged. Maybe next year. I'll probably make cookies or something simple.

1. Laundry- frequently. We have a regular kitchen trash can as our "hamper" and it just barely fits in the closet in the bathroom. My husband thinks if you wear something once it's dirty so the basket fills fast. Laundry is in the kitchen (no stairs) so we do it several times a week. It's the folding and putting away I hate. We use dye free, perfume free "sensitive" detergent for all laundry. Why spend more money on the "baby" stuff?

2. I try to go to bed at 9pm. Sophie has been going around 8:30/8:45pm. UGH! I want her in bed, lights out at 8pm at the latest. I'm reading "Contented Little Baby" right now prepping for #2. It has the kids up at 7am and to bed at 6:30/7pm (I think) very regimented but worth having the kids on a very predictable schedule so I get enough sleep and don't have to get on the "demand" feeding schedule and waking several times a night. I'll keep you posted. Sophie sleeps now until 7am on the weekdays and 8/8:30am on the weekends.

3. Valentines day? Uhhhh. Sometimes we do small gifts. This year we're pretty broke and Sophie got the stomach flu so we didn't do anything! :( There are other days that are more special to us.
